Williamsons Solicitors is highly regarded for its defence advocacy work, according to the latest edition of a respected legal guide.
In the 2011 edition of Chambers UK, A Client’s Guide to the UK Legal Profession, the firm is ranked prominently in defence advocacy for the North East and Yorkshire.
Researched through interviews with 35,000 clients of law firms nationwide, the guide says: “This firm acts for both private and publicly funded clients. It has expertise in all types of criminal offences including regulatory and road traffic matters.”
It names Bill Waddington as a key figure, reporting that as head of the region’s largest defence advocacy department, he ‘is regularly instructed by high profile clients’.
Mr Waddington said: “It is very rewarding for us to receive this recognition for the eighth year running, and I would like to thank everyone in the department for their hard work and dedication.”
Williamsons’ defence advocacy department employs a team of 11 lawyers, including six solicitors, three police station representatives, two paralegals and 10 support staff.
This latest success follows previous accolades for the firm this year, when both the family and clinical negligence departments were singled out in the Legal 500.
